Whirlwind Tour

What a wonderful day.  Kate Ramsey – a Polish felter now living in Ireland and currently on a tour of Western Canada – stopped by my place today.

She arrived by coach

It never ceases to amaze me how many people travel past my little patch of the back of the beyond!

Kate is vivacious, enthusiastic and tall!  My friend Geraldine and I were enthralled – in the best possible sense of the word.

We never did get to felting but for 6 hours we discussed techniques, wool choices, what makes good felt and what makes felting good.

You can see Kate’s felting here by the way.

I love this hat

And here is a signature scarf

From her laptop to her mini hard drive – everything emerged from felt – there was even a bag of little balls for a neckpiece that she ran through my washer – Kate’s delight with the medium of felt flowed over us and through us.

Should have had the camera out for all that – but stills don’t really capture the exuberance of great conversation do they?

Fortunately we did get these shots!

Thanks Kate for all the inspiration!
